LECTURES
Knitting With Beads - This lecture covers the basics of the different beaded
knit techniques. Beads, thread and bead knitting
techniques are also discussed as time allows. Approximately
1 hour, overhead projector would be helpful but not required.
Fee $100.00 does not include travel expenses.
The Good, The Bad, The Ugly Bead - Not all beads are created equal. This
lecture enlightens the listener as to what beads are good for which projects. Approximately 1 hour, overhead projector would be helpful
but not required. Fee $100.00 does not include travel
expenses.
CLASSES
Private classes are available for individuals
interested in learning any aspect of beading and bead embroidery, bead
stitching, bead weaving, designing, drawing, pen and ink drawing, pastel
painting, glass etching, needle felting, tapestry weaving, needleweaving,
Brazilian embroidery, ribbon embroidery and bead point. The
student can choose a project or come with their own
project. I am available weekdays, some
weekends and evenings. For scheduling your learning

Note - Class or workshop fees do not include
patterns or supplies. Kits are available for all
classes and workshops, at an additional cost. There
may be limits to class size. Travel expenses are not
included in the class or workshop fee. Fees for 1/2
day (3 hour) class $150.00, (4 hour) class $2000.00, full day (6 hour) $300.00
(4 students or less), $350.00 for 5 to 10 students, $400.00 for 11 to 15
students. Will billet - contact for personal
requirements.
Project class - Beaded knits
All of the designs that are available on
the beaded knits web page can be taught as a class. Necklaces
and some bracelets will require a full day (6 hour class). Most
bracelets are a four hour class. Earrings can be
finished in 2 to 3 hours. Requirements - knowledge of
basic knitting skills (garter stitch and cast on) is needed. Student
supply list is available. Projects from
my beaded knit books can also be taught.
Project class - Bead stitching
All of the designs that are available on
the beads web page can be taught as a class.
Butterflies, flame and peacock feather necklaces require a full day (6 - 8 hour
class). Christmas Tassels and other projects require 4
hours. There are no pre-requisites for these techniques
but basic bead stitching technique and knowledge of peyote stitch is helpful. Student supply list is available.
Project class - (Bead stitching) Peyote Lace

Take peyote stitch to a new level as you
learn to stitch peyote lace, a different and innovative way to add texture to
this ancient stitch. Knowledge of odd count peyote
stitch is helpful. This is not a beginner project;
knowledge of peyote stitch is required. This project
will not necessarily be completed in 4 hours but the technique can be learned
in 4 hours - 6 hours would be required to finish the project.
Instructional handout fee including patterns - $10.00 - Bracelet kit
available, fee $10.00. Student supply list available.
Project class - (Bead stitching) Beaded Bead
Bracelet

Even count peyote stitch is used to make
charming little beaded beads. These beads are then
combined to make the bracelet. Students will
experiment with color and pattern to chart their beaded beads or they can
choose from designs that have been charted for them. The
perfect object for experimenting with color and design. This
is a 6 hour class. Knowledge of peyote stitch is
helpful but not required. The pattern and peyote graph
are $5.00 per student. A student supply list is
available.
Project class - Textured Beaded Knit I-Cord
Bangle
There are many variations when knitting
beaded I-Cord. Learn the possibilities as you make
this textured bangle bracelet. Optional finishing
techniques will also be discussed in class. This
project can be completed in 3 hours - some students may require more time. Pattern and kit fee - $15.00 (does not include knitting
needles - 2 or 2.25 mm DP needles).
Project class - Beadpoint
'Pocket Dragon'

Stitching your counted designs using beads
adds a completely knew dimension to thread art. Learn
the techniques as you stitch a pocket dragon using beads. This
is a 3 hour class (pattern and instructions $3.00 per student not included in
class fee, optional - a complete kit can be supplied). Student
supply list is available.
Project class - Faux Spiral

A bead chain has endless applications. Learn this basic beading technique while making a
necklace, lariat/belt, eyeglass leash or bracelet. Right
Angle Weave is the bead structure that will then be embellished. This is a great beading technique for makin
gifts or jewelry pieces and accessories. This is a 2
to 4 hour class depending on the item being made. Pattern
and kit fee is not included in the class fee. Student
supply list is available.
WORKSHOPS
Beaded Knits Basics

This course will include instruction in the
various methods for stringing beads as well as information about beads, threads
and color for enhancing beads and knits. Structure and
style of popped and swaged beaded knits is dissected as students make a swatch
of these beaded knit techniques. There will also be a
discussion about charting the beaded knit designs. Only
basic knitting skills are required for the class (casting on and garter/knit
stitch). This is a 6 hour workshop (can be combined
with Beaded Knits Advanced for a two day workshop). Student
supply list is available. Supplies would also be
available in class.
Beaded Knits Advanced

Take your bead knitting beyond the basics. Beaded cast on and cast off, edges and loops are added to
your bead knitting skills. Adding beads to your
knitting without pre-stringing will also be discussed. Requirements
- Basic knitting skills (casting on, garter/knit stitch and purl stitch) and
Beaded Knits Basics. This is a 6 hour workshop which
can be combined with Beaded Knits Basics for a two day workshop. Student supply list is available. Supplies
would also be available in class.
Dimensional Bead Embellishing
Bead Fringes and Edges
Embellishing has few limits and these
techniques are no exception. This workshop teaches
different edging and fringing techniques to enhance any item.
The only limitation is your imagination. Students
will make a sampler of the various styles of edging and fringing possibilities. They will also learn how to sketch, chart edges and
fringes to be able to plan their own ideas and concepts. This
is a 6 hour workshop which can be split into two separate classes. Supplies are available in class or a kit can be available. Handout fee ($2.00/student) not included in the class fee. Student supply list available on request.
Beyond The Surface Bead Embellishing
Bead embellishing beyond the surface takes
the student to a new way of looking at bead emboirdery. There are endless possibilities when various bead
stringing and bead embroidery techniques are applied to the fabric surface. This class is tailored to the time and type of project
that the students are interested in working on.
Embellishing for Knits, Felts and Handwovens

Add another dimension to your project. This embellishing class teaches you how to embellish the
varied thicknesses and textures of handmade fabrics using your sample swatches. This is a 6 hour workshop. Student
supply list is available. Supplies would also be
available in class. Student will need to supply sample
swatches of knits, felts or handwovens they wish to
use for embellishing - size minimum 4" square.
Counted Needlework Design (Designing your own
pattern)
Students learn designing techniques as
counted needlework design is broken down into its basic elements while they
work from their own photo, picture or sketch. Color
and shading are used to create depth, texture and shape. The
class will focus on charting by hand but will also learn about computer design
programs that can aid the designer in the production of their projects. The class will also discuss the needlework market and the
business of designing as time allows. This is a 6 hour
workshop but can be trimmed to a 1/2 day class. A
small pattern or sampler can be finished in class but larger more complex
designs will take more time than class will allow. Handout
fee of $2.00/student is not included in the class fee. A
student supply list is available.
Beaded Romanian Point Lace Christmas Ornament
Romanian Point Lace is a needle lace
technique that uses a crochet braid to define the pattern with needle lace
woven into the spaces. Brenda has introduced beads to
not only the crochet braid but also the spaces in the designs for a shimmering
delightful ornament. Students will not only learn how
to make the beaded braid but also different beading techniques to fill the
spaces in the pattern.
This is a 1/2 day workshop.
Kit fee is $20.00 and is not included in the class fee.

Needle Felted Sculpture

Sculpting with wool is not only an enjoyable
art form but also very versatile.
This workshop can be tailored to fit a
variety of levels. Class length can be as short as an
hour, 2 hour, 4 hour, 6 day or two day (6 hours each). The
amount of class time available will dictate the size and detail of the
sculptures that the students will make. The kit fee
will depend on the length of the class.
